The print, trimmed

Scanned one print on a large scanner bed? AI Auto Cropper trims the plain border around the photo automatically and gives you just the print.

If the scan holds several prints, it splits them into separate photos instead. A normal photo with no border gets an AI subject crop around the main person, pet or object.

  • Works best when the area around the print is plain and even.
  • A normal photo without a border gets an AI subject crop (person, pet, object); with no clear subject it is kept whole.
  • Drag the edges of the box for a tighter or looser trim.
  • Several prints on one scan are split automatically.

Auto crop

What does auto crop do for scans?

Most scanners capture the whole glass, even when you place one small print in the corner. The result is a large file that is mostly empty white or gray. Auto crop finds where the photo ends and the scanner bed begins, and keeps only the photo.

AI Auto Cropper handles three cases: several prints on one scan are split into separate files, one print on a plain background is trimmed, and an image with no separate print (like a regular phone photo) is kept whole rather than cropped at random.

Use cases

When auto crop helps

Cleaning up scans that captured more than the photo.

Single prints on a big scanner

Remove the empty scanner bed around one photo.

Bulk scanning sessions

Trim borders quickly between scans without opening an editor.

Prints with white borders

The print’s own border is kept; only the scanner background is trimmed.

Why auto crop

Why auto crop instead of cropping by hand?

Cropping a single photo by hand is quick once, but tedious a hundred times. Auto crop gets the border right on clean scans every time, and still lets you adjust the box when you want a different framing.

  • Border trimmed in one step
  • Original resolution kept
  • Free, in the browser, no account

You stay in control

Detection is a starting point, not a black box. Before you export you can:

  • Move, resize or rotate any box (with undo)
  • Draw a box the detector missed, or use the 4-point tool
  • Copy a layout or template to a whole batch

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I auto crop a scanned photo?
Upload the scan above. The plain border around the print is detected and trimmed; download the result as a JPG.
Will auto crop cut into my photo?
No. Only the plain area around the print is removed. If no separate print is detected, the whole image is kept.
Does it remove the white border printed on old photos?
No β€” that border is part of the print, so it is kept. You can drag the box inward if you want to remove it.
Can it auto crop several photos at once?
Yes, if they are on the same scan. Each print is detected and exported as its own file.
Does it rotate or straighten photos?
Tilted prints are straightened automatically on export. You can also rotate any crop by 90Β° or set its tilt by hand. Sideways or upside-down photos are not turned automatically.
